The Bass is Strong With This One

That's no moon
If you're going to incorporate a subwoofer into your system, you might as well make it the least inconspicuous subwoofer ever. There's currently an auction over at the UK eBay for this monstrosity. Audio geeks with wives/significant others (or anyone doesn't hate girls, for that matter) beware; I believe there's an SAF* reading of -23.55 on this one.

I was noticing that, too. I thought maybe it sits with the speaker down, but I doubt it.
I have to agree with Alan here but I have a more pressing comment. Can you please explain the spousal acceptace factor to me? I find this system of ratings new and intersting.
Alan might know more about this than me. He works in the field and has gigantic speakers.
I like the Mike Nelson essay in Home Theater where he jokes about poor men who are forced to not buy big speakers; who'd go so far as to price special units that use infrared beams to transmit the sound directly to your sofa. Then the poor dope would ask:
"Okay, but do the infrared devices have to be right out there in the open, or can they be hidden?"
I'd suggest that SAF would work on the negative scale. -100.00 being a concert sound rig with aluminum trusses and all walls being replaced by diffusers; and -0.00 being nothing at all, just a 17 inch RCA XL-100 television set so she can watch The View.
I don't know about you guys, but I really want to see Star Jones in widescreen. That way I can see her arms for once.
